The Haiti Travel Ban in Disguise
It's outrageous that airfare to Haiti, a country so close to us, can cost so much. It's not only unfair, but it's also a tremendous burden on the Haitian diaspora who wish to visit their homeland, as well as on those who want to lend their support to the country's development. This should not be legal, and it's high time for airlines to reevaluate their pricing policies. Enough is enough - it's time to put an end to this abuse.
Why is this important?
The exorbitant cost of airfare to Haiti not only affects those living in Haiti, but also deeply impacts the Haitian diaspora around the world. Many in the diaspora long to visit their homeland and be reunited with their families and communities, but are unable to do so due to the exorbitant cost. This not only perpetuates the separation of families and loved ones, but also hinders the much-needed support and investment that the country needs to thrive. It's time for airlines to recognize the importance of affordable air travel to Haiti, not just for the residents, but for the entire Haitian community.
